Google has recently issued its bi-annual Transparency Report, which reports on YouTube clips the governments of various nations have sought to have removed from the YouTube site. Among the governmental take down efforts: citing national security concerns, Britain asked Google to remove 135 clips; the German government sought the removal of 583 videos, many of which involved Nazi issues; India sought to quash clips involving political protests; and local government in the United States sought removal of a video depicting police brutality. None of the governments claim a copyright or other property interest in the videos at issue. The report indicates whether Google honored or declined the take down request.
